Cotton made with with Kevlar reinforcement. These definitely were altered. The waist was taken in which I carefully removed leaving no damage. Tag states 36 inch waist but measures at 38 inches. Pants were shortened from 30 inch inseam to 27.5 inches but could be revised to add a half inch based on the seam allowance. Still a solid pair of protective jeans if the measurements work for you. No holes.
